2024-25 SEMS Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball is a Spring Sport (March thru May).
- Basketball tryouts are held in February.
- Refer to our Athletics / Documents tab for the Physical Exam form and Handbook signature page that you must turn in to be eligible to participate in team tryouts, practices, and games.

STEPS TO BE A SEMS EAGLES BASKETBALL PLAYER

Please bring the following documents to the first day of tryouts. You may not try out unless these forms are turned in or on file.

2. Physical Exam Form 2024-25

- Return your required documents to our Athletic Director, Mr. Gilpin, in room 251.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

• Practices will be Monday thru Thursday during the season, with an occasional Friday practice.

• Practice Times. I'm still coordinating exact practice times. Varsity and JV will have staggered practice times. Practice will start after school.

• Games will be typically on Tuesday and Thursdays. (Schedule hasn't been released as of yet)

• Varsity games begin at 3:30. JV games will start at 4:30, directly after the Varsity game ends. Players need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their game time.

• Players are expected to arrange their own transportation to away games.

• There will be no practices or games during the SMUSD Spring Break. We may have some optional workouts during that week.

Being a part of San Elijo Middle School Basketball is a great opportunity and a lot of fun.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will tryouts take place? 
Tryouts are scheduled in February and run for 2-3 days, depending on participation.

When will games take place? 
Generally, games are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30pm. The team plays 8-10 games in the months of March, April, and May.

When will practice take place?
Practices will be held Mondays through Thursdays after school. No practices on Friday. Student-athletes are expected to be in attendance at ALL practices and contests.

How many players will you keep? 
We will have a JV and a Varsity team. We typically keep about 10-12 players on each team.

What grade levels can participate?
6th & 7th grade students can play on the JV and/or Varsity team, and 8th graders can only play on the Varsity team.

How much will it cost? Zero, however, we humbly accept donations for transportation, uniforms, and equipment. We also have a tremendous fundraising opportunity in our Banner advertisements. If interested, please contact our Athletic Coordinator, Mr. Gilpin: [email protected] for details.
