Fund the Nest

SEMS PTO Fund the Nest Campaign 2020/21

Fund the Nest is our annual direct-giving campaign that helps pay for supplemental equipment, programs and materials.  

This includes but is not limited to the purchase and distribution of academic planners for every SEMS student, additional security measures (a hi-def camera & walkie-talkies) for our school site, tools for science labs, furniture and materials for our library, staff and teacher appreciation, departmental supplies and equipment, entertainment and rentals for 8th grade promotion, and registration and incentives for student programs like the National Spelling Bee, Poetry Slam, CJSF and WEB (Where Everyone Belongs). 

Each year we ask families to donate $1 per student / per school day to help subsidize the cost of these supplemental programs and tools. 

Historically, our Fund the Nest campaign subsidized between one-third and one-half of our annual fundraising.  The need for this funding is even greater this year as we launch new learning models while simultaneously preparing to return to campus safely.  This means your participation in our Fund the Nest campaign is even more critical this year

Double Your Donation

And remember, many employers and corporations will MATCH your donation to SEMS PTO - effectively doubling your donation!  These companies have a “matching” program where they will match all or some portion of their employee’s contributions to a qualified non-profit organization like San Elijo Middle School PTO. 

Some companies also provide “volunteer grants” where the company will make a donation to an organization where their employee spends time volunteering.
